Getting Connected to Student Residential Network (ResNet)
Justin Yung
Network Engineer, Network Systems

The Residential Network (ResNet) enables students residing in student halls to enjoy Wi-Fi and wired network connection.

Since 2014, ITSC has been installing in-room Wi-Fi Access Points (AP) in each hostel room to improve the Wi-Fi service in our Student Halls. This provided better Wi-Fi coverage, faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connections for learning activities. These in-room Wi-Fi AP also comes with a port for wired network connection speed upto 1 Gbps.

For wired network connection in residential hall, ITSC has deployed a New Network Registration System called NetReg that can greatly simplify the registration process.

With a total of 13 Student Halls on campus, 12 of them have been upgraded to indoor APs now. The remaining UG Hall 5 will be upgraded in summer 2018. NetReg is available in ALL Student Halls right now. For more information about ResNet, please visit our website.
