It is utterly sad when a young life is cut down in its prime, and sadder still when it happens to an only child. On June 25 Miss Lo Bo Wing, an outstanding 2^nd year student in our Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program was lost to acute leukemia while at the University of Minnesota as an exchange student. Despite the best efforts of the doctors, she succumbed to the disease in the end.

Funeral service was held on 18 July when teachers, fellow students and senior HKUST leaders gathered to pay their final respects. Rest in peace, Bo Wing.
