Dr William Fung Kwok Lun

Students from the Business School's BBA in Global Business program organized for the first time the four-day international Global Business Conference 2011 in the Fall, demonstrating their potentials as future leaders with global perspectives.

Marking HKUST's 20th Anniversary and the 10th Anniversary of the Global Business Program, the Conference centers on the theme 'Emerging Markets' Opportunities', featuring seminars and workshops on finance, sustainability and business case studies, firm visits and cultural exchange activities. The opening ceremony featured two keynote addresses delivered by honorable guests Ms Umran Beba, President of PepsiCo Asia Pacific, and Ms Amy Fong, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of HSBC Global Banking Asia Pacific. Dr William Fung Kwok Lun, Executive Deputy Chairman of Li & Fung Limited, gave a keynote speech at the closing ceremony about how young business leaders can best equip themselves for capturing opportunities in China and the emerging markets in a new era after the financial tsunami.

Attracting around 100 top undergraduate students from 30 universities located in 17 countries, the Conference was a resounding success.
