For this new academic year, ITSC has further subscribed additional Internet bandwidth to meet the increasing Internet bandwidth demand to support teaching, learning and research activities.
The latest topology for our Internet connectivity is illustrated in the diagram:
- HKUST has a pair of redundant 10 Gbit/s connections to HARNET (Hong Kong Academic & Research Network) which is a regional HK educational network linking up all local tertiary institutions. Through such HARNET connections we are linked to Hong Kong Internet Exchange (HKIX), other research & education networks, and to a 4.2 Gbit/s international Internet link shared by all the 8 HARNET members.
- In additional, HKUST has also subscribed a private 220 Mbit/s Internet connection.
