Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2015/16
The Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) launched the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) in 2009 to attract top students from all over the world to pursue PhD studies in UGC-funded institutions in Hong Kong.

The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (~US$2,500) and a conference and research related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (~US$1,300) per year to each awardee for a maximum period of three years.

In 2014/15, HKUST has received a total of 65 PhD Fellowship awards (29% of the awards in Hong Kong), out of a total of 223 awarded for the whole of Hong Kong.  The number of awards offered to HKUST is the highest among the UGC-funded institutions.  HKUST’s success in HKPFS serves as recognition of the University’s ability to attract top students from all over the world.

The application for the 2015/16 round is now open.  More details about the scheme are available here
