The Overseas Research Award aims to offer selected post-qualifying PhD students the opportunity of working in an overseas research environment with a different group of researchers. The overseas experience provides students with exposure to a foreign culture and environment, and widens their circle of professional contacts. The experience will better prepare students for their future careers.
An overseas research attachment period may range from two to six months. A monthly subsidy of no more than HK$8,000 will be offered to each awardee. Every year, the amount of the monthly subsidy may be adjusted. In addition to the subsidy, an awardee may continue to receive PGS from his / her home department at HKUST.
